Reformer Pilates in Wimbledon – what to expect at your first Bondi Rise class

If you’ve been curious about reformer Pilates in Wimbledon but haven’t quite taken the leap yet, this one’s for you. Here’s everything you need to know before you walk through our door on Leopold Road for the very first time.

What actually is reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates uses a piece of equipment called a reformer bed – a sliding carriage with springs and straps that adds resistance to your movement. Unlike mat Pilates, which uses your bodyweight alone, the reformer allows you to work through a much wider range of resistance, making it endlessly adaptable whether you’re a complete beginner or have been practising for years.

It looks a little intimidating at first. It isn’t. Within about ten minutes of your first class you’ll wonder why you ever thought it was.

The results speak for themselves – stronger core, improved posture, better mobility, and a body that just moves better day to day. But honestly? The thing our clients tell us most often is how they feel when they leave. Fired up, centred, and like they’ve genuinely done something good for themselves.

What makes Bondi Rise Wimbledon different?

We opened our Wimbledon studio on Leopold Road in late 2025 and from day one our intention was simple – to create a space that feels nothing like a gym and everything like a community.

Our reformer studio holds just 7 people. That’s a deliberate choice. It means our instructors can actually see you, cue you personally, and make sure you’re getting the most out of every single movement. You won’t get lost in a room of 20 reformers. You’ll be seen, supported and challenged in equal measure.

We’re also big believers that a Pilates class should do more than just work your body. When you step through our door in Wimbledon we want you to take a deep breath and feel the outside world fall away. Every class is designed to fire up your body and leave you feeling centred, calm and accomplished. That’s the Bondi Rise Method – and it’s what we bring to every class, every day.

Who is reformer Pilates at Bondi Rise Wimbledon for?

Honestly – everyone!

If you’re a complete beginner, start with our ALIGN class. It’s designed specifically for people who have never been on a reformer before. Your instructor will walk you through the machine, explain how the springs and straps work, and make sure you feel completely confident before you move into anything else. No experience needed whatsoever.

If you’re returning after having a baby, welcome – you are exactly who we’re here for. Our instructors are experienced working with postnatal clients and will guide you carefully and safely back into movement at the right pace for your body. Our postnatal classes in Wimbledon are some of our most popular and for good reason.

If you’re already a regular Pilates go-er, you’ll find our ELEVATE classes challenging. Our instructors will push you in all the right ways.

If you’ve never done any exercise and feel a bit nervous, that’s okay too. We get that a lot, and we promise the community at Bondi Rise is like no other! No judgement and no intimidating energy.

What should I wear and bring?

Grip socks are required for reformer classes – you can bring your own or buy a pair at the studio if you forget. Comfortable workout clothes that you can move freely in.

That’s genuinely it. We have everything else you need.

Where is Bondi Rise Wimbledon and where do I park?

We’re at 10-12 Leopold Road, Wimbledon, SW19 7BD – about a 5 minute walk from Wimbledon station.

If you’re driving, there’s free parking on Strathearn Road before 11am and after 3pm. There’s also free 2 hour parking at the Waitrose on the high street, which is just a 2 minute walk from the studio.

What happens when I arrive?

Please arrive 10 minutes before your class starts – especially for your first visit. We lock the door once class begins so we want to make sure you have time to settle in, meet your instructor and get comfortable on the reformer before we start moving.

Your instructor will show you around, explain how everything works, and make sure you feel at home. If it’s your very first reformer class, please book an ALIGN so you get the best possible introduction to the machine.

How do I try it?

We have two intro offers for new clients – both available at our Wimbledon studio:

3 reformer classes for £60, valid for 14 days from your first visit.

5 mat classes for £60, valid for 21 days from your first visit.

These are designed to give you enough time to try the studio properly, meet the instructors, and figure out which classes you love. The intro offers can also be used at our East Molesey studio if you’d like to try both.

You can book directly through the Bondi Rise app or via our website. We open our booking window 7 days in advance.
