NEW TO PILATES?
START HERE.
Everything you need to know before your first Pilates class at Bondi Rise.
From choosing the right class to knowing what to expect when you walk through the door.
FIND YOUR FIRST CLASS
YOU DON'T NEED TO
KNOW ANYTHING YET.
If you've never done Pilates before, you're in the right place.
You don't need to be flexible, strong or experienced. You don't need to know the names of the exercises, and you definitely don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you're doing.
Our instructors will guide you through the movements, explain how the equipment works and help you find the right level for your body.
The goal of your first class isn't to be perfect. It's simply to move, learn something new and leave feeling good.
SO, WHAT ACTUALLY
HAPPENS IN A REFORMER PILATES CLASS?
Expect expert guidance, a focused workout and plenty of time to find your way into the movements.
ARRIVE & GET SETTLED
Arrive a few minutes early so your instructor can welcome you, show you around and answer any questions.
LEARN THE BASICS
Your instructor will explain the reformer and guide you through the movements step by step.
MOVE AT YOUR LEVEL
You'll be encouraged to work at a level that feels right for your body. There is no need to keep up with anyone else.
LEAVE FEELING GOOD
Expect to feel like you've worked, but also more connected, energised and confident in your body.
FIND THE RIGHT
FIRST CLASS FOR YOU.
Not every Pilates class is designed as a first step. Here's where we'd recommend starting at Bondi Rise.
ALIGN REFORMER
BEST FOR REFORMER BEGINNERS

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR
TO PILATES?
You don't need a whole new Pilates wardrobe. Come comfortable, ready to move and we'll take care of the rest.
COMFORTABLE CLOTHES
Wear something you can move easily in. Leggings, fitted shorts, a sports bra, vest or T-shirt are all great options.
GRIP SOCKS
Grip socks are recommended for Reformer Pilates. They help you feel secure on the equipment while you move.
WATER
Bring a bottle of water, especially if you're joining us for one of our more challenging classes.
NOTHING ELSE
Your Reformer and the equipment you'll need for class are already waiting for you in the studio.
YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONE.
Walking into your first Pilates class can feel like a big thing. Especially when you don't know what to expect.
But here's the thing: everyone has a first class.
You don't need to know the exercises before you arrive. You don't need to be the strongest or most flexible person in the room. And you don't need to worry about getting everything right straight away.
Our instructors are there to guide you, answer your questions and help you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive.
Start at your own level, listen to your body and give yourself permission to be new at something.

YOUR FIRST CLASS
SHOULD FEEL GOOD.
SMALL GROUPS
Our classes stay intentionally small, so your instructor can give you the attention you need.
EXPERT TEACHING
You'll be guided through the movements with clear instruction, support and encouragement.
